You’ll depart from the marina at 5pm, before the sun starts to sink below the horizon. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, champagne, beer, or a soft drink as you glide over the waves on a luxury catamaran. Step out onto the deck to enjoy spectacular views and feel the ocean wind in your hair, or retire to its sheltered interior for a little more warmth and intimacy. In addition to your welcome drink, you’ll have access to the shipboard cash bar throughout your voyage. You’ll also be able to sample an extensive selection of hot and cold canapes, made fresh each day by a local supplier. Try the antipasti or the vegetarian California rolls.

Your cruise will last for an hour and a half in total, giving you time to relax and watch the sky fill with spectacular colours as the sun sinks below the Coral Sea. Look back towards land and you’ll have an unrivalled view of Port Douglas, the rainforest, and the mountains beyond. If you brought your camera, take it aboard with you: you won’t find views like this anywhere else in the world. With the first class service and the sound of the waves, this might just be the most relaxing thing you do on your entire trip to North Queensland.

You’ll arrive back into Port Douglas at 6:30pm, relaxed and with the rest of the evening ahead of you to enjoy. Why not take a walk along the waterfront, or book a romantic dinner at one of Port Douglas’ many fine restaurants?

Times, Locations, and Prices

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this catamaran tour leaves from Port Douglas just once a day, shortly before sunset. Guests should meet at the tour office on the Reef Marina for check-ins at 4:30pm, with boarding at 5pm. The trip lasts for an hour and a half, after which you return to the Port Douglas waterfront, so you can enjoy other activities throughout the day before winding down on this gentle cruise. Guests will need to arrange their own transport to and from the meeting point.

For guests aged 12 and up, the price of the tour is $65. As this is an adults only tour, children under the age of 12 are not permitted. All guests will also need to pay a $3.25 Environmental Management Charge, payable to the tour operator on the day of your sunset sail. This is a statutory charge that applies to all tours of the Coral Sea and the Great Barrier Reef. Be aware that this tour can fill up very quickly, particularly during the peak tourist season, so early booking is very strongly advised. As always, sailing is also subject to weather conditions in order to keep passengers and crew safe.
